SARAH WOODWARD - Nell Gwynn Shakespeare's Globe and West End (Portuguese)
'I played Catherine of Braganza in Nell Gwynn and Alex had the unenviable task of teaching me to speak Portuguese. He taught me to be Portuguese! He is a fun, enthusiastic and intelligent teacher. When I needed his support, he was there, with voice recordings and encouragement. I would highly recommend Alex.'
GREGORY GUDGEON - Travels with My Aunt Menier Chocolate Factory (Argentinian Spanish)
'Alex taught me Argentinian Spanish for a production of Travels With My Aunt, with clarity, humour and precision. He inspired confidence and understanding in both me and the audience.'
CLIVE HAYWARD - Digital Human BBC Radio 4 (Spanish) A Christmas Carol RSC (German)
'I have sought Alex’s expertise on two occasions. Radio 4’s Digital Human required me to read several letters in a Spanish accent, and in the RSC's A Christmas Carol I needed help with German pronunciation. Alex’s coaching was razor sharp and extremely helpful. He combines his great skill as a linguist with a warm and encouraging personality and gives precise, detailed and ‘actor-specific’ instruction.'
HEATHER JOHNSON - Much Ado About Nothing Oxford Shakespeare Company (Italian)
'Alex immediately put me at ease, constructively praising, and giving me concrete, technical tips to make my Italian accent sound more authentic. We also studied character and context which resulted in my finding a way to play the part in a fully uninhibited way, freeing me to embrace what the accent could add to the character.'
JAMES MCGREGOR - The Alchemist White Bear Theatre (Spanish)
'Alex is a pleasure to work with. He is patient and persistent - vital skills when teaching a foreign language. He stuck with me until I got it, and allowed my performance to be believable and natural. A highly recommended dialect coach that I would work with again in an instant.'
TOM WESTON-JONES - Audition Preparation (Spanish)
'Alex is one of the best dialect coaches I've had the pleasure of working with. He is clear and concise, whilst making everything accessible to all levels. He's brilliant.'
